Padilla Bay Foundation
Challenge Grant – Fund Raising- “Somebody bet on the Bay!”
Padilla Bay Foundation is a membership-based non-profit organization formed in 1987. Its mission is to help preserve the Padilla Bay estuary through support of the Padilla Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve.
Foundation programs include:
Support for Education
- Funding for displays at the Breazeale Interpretive Center
- Purchase of educational equipment
- Scholarships for selected Washington Conservation Corps students
Support for Research
- Funding support for interns and assistants conducting research into the ecology of Padilla Bay and Puget Sound
- Purchase of research equipment
Special Projects
- An annual environmental presentation is funded by the Smith-Aguero Trust.
- The Board of Directors occasionally funds individual projects as requested by the Reserve
- Other foundation activities include a yearly Members' Day event, annual meeting and publication of a newsletter
