Padilla Bay Reserve is one of 25 Reserves in the National Estuarine Research Reserve System. This system of Reserves is administered by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in the Commerce Department. Padilla Bay Reserve is the only site in Washington and is cooperatively managed by our State Coastal Program: the Shorelands Program of the Washington State Department of Ecology.

The Northwest Straits Commission is a grassroots effort to protect marine resources in northwest Washington, from the Strait of Juan de Fuca and northern Puget Sound to the Canadian border. Local tribal, state and community representatives work together with opportunities for public involvement and education.
